Jon Lawrence Montgomery
Jon grew up in the greater Milwaukee area and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin- Madison in 2010. After graduation Jon worked as a restoration technician for Good Oak Ecological Services in Madison. Jon's academic interests include conservation planning, ecological restoration and human-wildlife interactions. Since leaving Wisconsin to attend the Bren School, Jon has worked as a restoration intern at Coal Oil Point Reserve, volunteered with the Santa Barbara Audubon Society, and has helped lead the Bren School Band. This past summer, Jon interned with Los Padres ForestWatch, helping to conserve the wildlife and natural areas of the Los Padres National Forest. In his free time, Jon enjoys playing the guitar, gardening, hiking, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers.

Lili Prahl
Lili was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin where she developed a passion for the environment at a young age. She pursued this passion in college, earning her degree in wildlife ecology and molecular biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After graduation, she spent a year in China teaching English before returning to Wisconsin to work as a field technician doing habitat assessments and studying wild turkey nesting ecology. While working on her MESM degree, Lili has completed a summer internship at The Nature Conservancy in Ventura, CA and has also helped to lead the student chapter of The Wildlife Society. At Bren, Lili is specializing in conservation planning as well as economics and politics of the environment. She is interested in pursuing a career in natural resource management and planning.

Peter Shellenbarger
Peter Shellenbarger graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2008 with a degree in Environmental Economics. Following his studies, Peter remained in Santa Cruz working for O’Neill Wetsuits and volunteering with the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at UCSC. This volunteer experience helped him realize his passion for protecting California’s coastal resources and ultimately motivated him to come to Santa Barbara and attend the Bren School. While at Bren, he is specializing in Coastal Marine Resources Management and Economics and Politics of the Environment. During the summer of 2012 Peter completed an internship with The Nature Conservancy working on their Natural Floodplain Protection Program in Ventura, California. Currently he is the Restoration Assistant for the Santa Barbara Audubon Society at Coal Oil Point Reserve in Goleta, California. In his free time Peter enjoys exploring Santa Barbara looking for new surf spots, hiking trails, and good restaurants to eat at.

Whitney Wilkinson
Whitney earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Environmental Studies from UC Santa Barbara in 2006. Originally from Carlsbad, California, she has worked in Santa Barbara for the past five years as a Planner with the County of Santa Barbara and an Environmental Scientist with URS Corporation. Her academic and professional interests include conservation planning and land use planning and policy. She completed an internship this summer with the Irvine Ranch Conservancy, conducting field surveys and developing a report of habitat management recommendations. Whitney also serves as a student representative for the Central Coast Chapter of the American Planning Association (CCCAPA). In her spare time, Whitney enjoys beach volleyball, ceramics, swimming, cycling, and running, and jamming with her band HKO.

Robert C. Wilkinson Ph.D. (Adviser)
Dr. Robert C. Wilkinson is Adjunct Associate Professor at the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and he is a Lecturer in the Environmental Studies Program at UCSB. Dr. Wilkinson is also a Senior Fellow with the Rocky Mountain Institute. Dr. Wilkinson advises government agencies, businesses, and non-governmental organizations on water and energy policy, climate research, and environmental policy issues. He co-chairs the U.S. Sustainable Water Resources Roundtable and serves on a number of advisory boards including the Task Force on Water and Energy Technology for the California Climate Action Team, and the advisory committee for California’s State Water Plan on water, energy, and climate issues. In 1990, Dr. Wilkinson established and directed the Graduate Program in Environmental Science and Policy at the Central European University based in Budapest, Hungary. He has worked in every country of Central Europe from Albania through the Baltic States, and throughout the former Soviet Union including Siberia and Central Asia. He has also worked in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, South Africa, Mongolia, and China.
